District Council has a cultivatable land covered by major food crops estimated to be 36,887.42 Hectares respectively compared to the available land of 227,000 Hectares for agriculture .The major food crops grown are maize, beans, cassava, sweet and Irish potatoes, peas, and wheat.
For major cash crops which are coffee, tea, pyrethrum, sunflower, tomatoes and groundnuts the cultivated land is 5,857.5 Hectares. Therefore ,the investor is availed that the agricultural land of 184,255.08 is available for investment preferably in maize production, tomatoes, Irish potatoes, beans production, pineapple and avocado production, tea production, flowers and tree planting in the proposed eight (8) areas totaling 4160 Ha of land (Igongolo 20 Ha, Mtwango 65 Ha, Ikuna 20 Ha, Kidegembye 100 Ha, Matembwe 105 Ha, Idamba 1,000 Ha, Ikondo 2350 Ha and Mfriga 500 Ha)
